An nyoung ha se yo? Greetings to you all.
I am pleased to meet you through this newsletter. I have lived in New Zealand nearly 3 years, but I really didn't know that we were going to meet each other closely like this. My family have moved on 21st July from Auckland. I had the recognition service for my ministry on 31st July.
I had many considerations after I decided to come down here for the ministry. The reason I have is that I should meet with, the new ministry environment that I didn't experience untill now. My question is about what the migrant ministry is and who the minister for the migrant is?
Fortunately, I could find out the answer about the question in the Conference for the “migrant minister in Oceania” that was held in Sydney on last July. The answer was "Serving". I have got not only the freedom, but also the confidence after I found the answer. That was God's grace!
I have to go forward, because now I know the direction. I should practice. I think that "Serving" is showing the model of Jesus by using the things that I have. Therefore, I should accomplish the task that I show the model in my ministry. It is not easy. But my endeavor will be to continue and I hope that the Korean Congregations are to be healthy and happy community through my serving.
I have guided Sunday Morning Service from October 04 and Wednesday Evening Service from 7 September 05 for Korean congregation. Especially we are sharing the Word on Acts and praying with the united heart every Wednesday evening. Also, one thing we thank God for is, that he helped all persons and families in the congregation to pray with the same titles unitedly during 40 days, from 18 Sept to 29 Oct.
In addition, Senior Youth Group are having a meeting for Bible Study every Saturday evening and the purpose of God is driving their life. Junior Youth Group are not only gathering for Bible Study every Sunday afternoon, but had the Bible Reading Camp on 5-6 Oct.
In particular, I found a new possibility and future from Junior Youth people. We read the Bible from Luke chapter 15 to Acts final chapter with the explanation on each chapter during two days. I was deeply impressed by their attitude that participated in Bible Reading Time concentratedly and sincerely. They have been reading and learning the New Testament from Matthew since October last year. They will continue to learn the Bible every Sunday.
If I summarize these all things, it is the revival and recovering in the Word of God and Praying. This is very important to the Korean congregation now. I am trying to change for the image of the worship and will guide us to experience the presence of God through the worship, because all things - revival and recovering - are connected to the worship.
I am convinced that the Korean congregation are alive. We are going to grow quantitatively and qualitatively. Furthermore, we will not only overcome the negative images that spread within this local society, but change into an affirmative image.
For this, we need your help. We would like the Kiwi Congregation to look at Korean congregation affirmatively in the light of love and to inform the affirmative images of the Korean congregation to the local society. Because we are the One in Jesus Christ.
Yours sincerely,
