Happy New Year!
First of all, I would like all congregations, Kiwi and Korean to be happier in 2006.
We, Korean congregation, proclaimed and shared church slogan of 2006, that is, “Happy Life, Healthy Church”, starting 2006 with ‘Family Retreat’ at Waihi Beach. This was based on the Bible, John 10:10 and Act 2:42-47. This was arranged by Korean Elders’ Meeting that was held 1 December 2005 for Church Life 2006.
I believe that God wants us to “have life – life in all its fullness”(John 10:10). God always wants us to be happy through his son, Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are going to run with Jesus faithfully for the purpose of ‘Happy Life’.
The other one is about ‘Healthy Church’. I believe the key issue for churches in the twenty-first century is church health, not church growth. All living things grow. In the same way, since the church is a living organism, it is natural for it to grow if it is healthy. When congregations are healthy, they grow the way God intends. They grow naturally.
We found the model of healthy church in the image of primary church, because church congregations in Act give the insight for healthy church that experienced real growth. God wants his church to grow. Hence, we are going to focus on ‘community health’ in order to experience real growth for this year.
The Korean Church celebrates the 11th anniversary of church opening on 12th February. In a Korean proverb, it says "ten years is long enough time for mountains and rivers to change". I believe now is the time not only to start newly, but also to write new community history. Now, we are running straight toward the goal, “Happy Life and Healthy Church”.
Sincerely
